Edward T. Hall says, “culture hides more than it reveals”. It’s true! Learning how culture impacts interactions can sometimes feel like trying to learn how a trick works by watching the magician. Research shows that multicultural teams can either be at the top or bottom of performance scales. Why is that? Well, it depends if those teams have found their magic, magic that exists when cultural diversity is present. If not, differences get in the way of flow, collaboration and communication. The willingness and ability of individuals and teams to cooperate and communicate across cultures are essential in a world shaped by cultural complexity. At Abracademy, we believe in a world where people seek to understand each other despite differences and see their differences as essential in achieving something impossible (and wonderful!) together.
